Hi, I’m Abbi.

I am a psychotherapist by training and adventurous explorer by birth.

I utilize my professional training and lived experience to provide support to individuals and communities who are seeking more out of life; more spaciousness, more freedom, more love.

education & background

I received my Master’s in Social Work from New York University in 2012 with a clinical focus in “evidence-based practice” for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. I then completed over 500 hours of classroom yoga teacher training at Sacred Sounds Yoga in Greenwich Village. In order to deepen my understanding of the energy body, I spent five years apprenticing as an assistant daily in the Mysore-style Ashtanga Yoga lineage with my teacher Michael Guiou.

In 2016, I took a course in “Ayurveda for Healthcare Practitioners” through the Maharishi Mahesh Association of America, focusing on ways the five elements - earth, water, fire, air, and space- affect our overall health.

In 2017, I took an introductory course in Gestalt Therapy, applying the lessons of my yoga studies into the therapeutic relationship once again. In 2018, in order to further my interest in updating old therapeutic modalities with the increased awareness of the impact of intersectionality and inter-subjectivity both outside and inside the therapy room, I did a one-year long Relational Psychoanalysis course - relearning theory while unlearning the frame of patriarchy, white supremacy, and classism inherent to the origins of therapeutic practice.

Most recently in 2022, I took another year long continuing education in Psychedelic-Assisted Psychotherapy through Integrative Psychiatry Institute continuing to explore consciousness and its impact on mental health, community, and spirituality.

Interests & gratitudes

I believe who we are outside of training can be an important asset to building relationships of care and support.

Some things about me (or things I love about being alive):

  • I love people! I became a therapist because the human spirit fascinates me. We are wild, resilient, powerful, and dynamic in nature and we are always evolving.

  • I love nature! Whether snowboarding down mountains, wandering through forests, or being held by the ocean, the natural world and the interplay of its elements fascinate and revitalize me.

  • I love animals! I have a cat child named Celine and I learn so much from her and other animal friends I meet on my path. How lucky are we to spend time on this planet with so many wondrous creatures.

  • I love music! I cannot play an instrument and my singing voice is best when joined with others. Music is often referred to as “the hidden therapist” in Psychedelic work - I find it does the same job in all states of consciousness if we let it.

  • I love books! I’m a voracious reader and life long learner. Sharing books and articles of interest is another tool we have to grow together.
